Greenville, NC (May 30, 2024) – The Morehead City Marlins clashed with the recently joined Greenville Yard Gnomes at Guy Smith Field in Greenville, NC, marking a historic milestone as both teams engaged in their inaugural match. This matchup inaugurated a series of three games scheduled over five days between the two teams.
The Marlins swiftly got on the board in the first inning. Nick Serce’s impressive two-run shot to right field propelled Morehead City to a 2-0 advantage.
Building on this momentum, the Marlins extended their lead with two additional runs, courtesy of an RBI groundout by Josh Mason and an RBI single from debutant Kamau Neighbors.
Tommy Kendrick contributed to the Marlins’ offensive prowess with a sac fly in the third inning, further solidifying their lead.
