MOREHEAD CITY, NC–The Morehead City Marlins hosted the Wilmington Sharks for game two of the east division championship. The Marlins lost 6-4.

Morehead City capitalized on three errors from the Sharks, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. 

However, Wilmington responded with five runs on three hits and an error in the second. They added one more in the top of the fourth after another error from the Marlins and a sacrifice fly, giving them the 6-4 lead.

Five scoreless innings followed for both teams and the Sharks took the win.

Joey Calabretti worked double duty as the starting pitcher and designated hitter. On the mound he went for 1.2 innings and allowed two hits and struck out three. 

Carson Gipson took over on the bump in the second and finished with a stellar stat line. He went for 7.1 innings and allowed one run with eight strikeouts through his innings, keeping the Marlins in the fight until the very end.

Morehead City concludes the season with a 34-16 final record while setting a multitude of single-game and single-season CPL records. Thank you to all the fans, host families, players, coaches, and Marlins supporters for another amazing season. Go Fish!
