MOREHEAD CITY, NC–The Marlins matched up in their first of three exhibition games against the Virginia Beach Valor, taking a commanding 15-0 victory.
Part of the high-level scoring was three home runs by the Marlins. Jakob Haynes and Bray Touchstone went back-to-back in the second inning to open the scoring, while Logan Lowe hit one over the left field wall in the fifth inning. Every starter in the game recorded a hit and a run, showing consistency from the entire lineup.
Bryce Nicolay shined in his start on the mound, going for four innings and five strikeouts while recording the win. Third-year Marlin Reid Bertram and Kole Hopkins pitched well in relief, recording four and two strikeouts, respectively.
The Marlins will now head to Colonial Heights, Virginia, for a matchup against the Tri-City Chili Peppers. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30pm tomorrow. Fans can tune into the live stream on Home Team Network or listen for free on Mixlr. Pregame coverage will begin at 5:15pm.
