MOREHEAD CITY, NC–The Morehead City Marlins rallied to defeat the Wilmington Sharks 3-1 in their second home game of the season.

Righty Kory Williams got the ball to start in front of the home crowd once again, going for six innings with three hits and one run allowed. Quinn Bentley’s shot to left field was the lone run on Williams, clearing the wall for his first of the year.

The Marlins struggled to rally hits together for a majority of the game. With five on the night entering the 8th, Morehead City appeared to be in a repeat of yesterday’s 1-0 shutout in Florence.

Luke Hayes took to the rubber for Wilmington in the bottom of the 8th, striking out Jovan Gill to start the inning. Jon Howard followed with a single to the right side, with Bray Touchstone also notching a single after the second out.

On an 0-1 count, Joey Calabretti got his pitch, driving a triple to right field plating two to take the lead. Ethan Dillon followed with an RBI single to score Calabretti.

Matthew Heard finished it out for the Marlins, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts in his two innings, earning the win.

Morehead City will return home to play the Virginia Beach Valor in a seven-inning exhibition tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 6:30pm. Fans can watch the Marlins stream on Home Team Network with pregame coverage beginning at 6:15pm.
