Hampton, VA- On Independence Day in Hampton, Virginia the Morehead City Marlins provided the fireworks in a 6-1 victory over the Peninsula Pilots.

The win made it four consecutive victories for the red hot Marlins whose record now stands at a gaudy 23-7.

Morehead City starting pitcher Jack Hodgins provided five innings of one run ball and exited the game with Peninsula leading 1-0.

In the top of the sixth Luke Powell accounted for two runs, driving in Dylan Rogers with a triple and then scoring the go ahead run on a wild pitch.

The Marlins would add on to their lead in the eighth inning thanks to a Ben Miller solo homerun and another wild pitch unleashed by the Pilots bullpen.

Dylan Rogers would add to the explosion with his first homerun of the season in the ninth inning padding the Fish lead.

Coach Sam Carel turned to Reese Wissinger to finish things off in the ninth and he did just that, posting a scoreless frame to complete the 6-1 win.

Morehead City returns home Wednesday to take on the Asheboro Zookeepers at 7:00 in an out of division matchup.
