Morehead City, N.C. – The Morehead City Marlins have announced the appointment of David Dobson as their Pitching Coach for the upcoming 2024 season. Dobson joins the Marlins with a wealth of experience, having most recently served as the Pitching Coordinator at Combine Academy in Lincolnton, NC.

After visiting with Dobs several times, and speaking to those who knew him, it became clear that he’s the perfect addition to our coaching staff this summer. The Fish got better today!”
Dobson’s journey to the Marlins has been marked by a commitment to excellence in the realm of baseball coaching. As the Pitching Coordinator at Combine Academy, he creates throwing programs, rehabilitation programs, manages over 30 pitchers, and travels with the national team. Prior to his tenure at Combine Academy, Dobson honed his skills as a pitching coach at Florida Baseball ARMory in Lakeland, FL. His dedication to player development and his keen understanding of pitching mechanics have earned him recognition in the baseball community.
Dobson’s passion for the game and his relentless pursuit of knowledge led him to take on various roles, including operations intern, further enriching his understanding of the sport from multiple perspectives. His journey in baseball continued as a throwing intern, where he gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of pitching.

A graduate of Belmont Abbey College, Dobson brings academic rigor to his coaching philosophy, having earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. During his time at Belmont Abbey College, Dodson showcased his talents on the field as a member of the baseball team for two seasons, further solidifying his understanding of the game.
