MOREHEAD CITY, NC–The Marlins dropped just their second game at home to the Forest City Owls 6-1.
The squad only recorded five hits on the night, two by Jon Howard, the only multi-hit Marlin. Howard had two singles.
The Marlins struggled to bring runs around leaving 10 runners on base.
Sebastian Mexico had the only RBI on a double in the fourth inning, which scored Jakob Haynes who reached base on a hit-by-pitch.
On the offensive side, the Owls recorded 12 hits on the day. Bryce Nicolay started the game on the mound for the Marlins. He held the Owls to three runs in his 2.2 innings of work before being replaced by Kole Hopkins, who recorded the final out of the inning.
Carson Gipson followed, allowing two runs in four innings, while tallying five strikeouts.
Joey Calabretti and Nuno Parache finished the job for the Marlins, giving up one run.
The Marlins will travel to Wilmington tomorrow to play the Sharks. First pitch is at 7:05pm at Buck Hardee Field. Fans can watch the game on Home Team Network, or listen for free to the Marlins Radio Broadcast on Mixlr. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:50pm.
