WILMINGTON, NC – Not our night.

The Wilmington Sharks (1-4) put up a 6-spot in the bottom of the second inning en route to handing the Morehead City Marlins their first loss of the 2021 season, 8-0.

The Marlins only managed 2 hits the entire game, a single by Jack Harris (Newberry) in the second inning, and a pinch hit single for Gibson Krzeminski (Canisius) in the ninth inning in his Marlin debut.

Reed Parris (College of Charleston) got the start for the Marlins, and he was quite good outside of that huge 6-run second inning in which the Sharks racked up six hits, including a 2-run home run off the bat of John Behrend. Parris finished with 4 IP, 6 earned and 5 strikeouts.

Jon Vore (Butler) pitched 3 innings of relief, giving up single runs in the 5th and 7th inning. Trey Jernigan (UNC-Asheville) continued his strong start with a 1-2-3 8th inning.

The Marlins return home tomorrow night to play for first place in CPL East against Holly Springs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM at The Rock. You can watch the game live on FloBaseball, and tickets are still available.
