HAMPTON, VA–The Morehead City Marlins (15-4) fell 10-2 against the Peninsula Pilots (7-11).

Morehead City struggled in the field, recording three errors. Out of the 10 runs scored by Peninsula, only four were earned, one against Spencer Cipro, and three to Drew Wedgeworth.

The Pilots racked up 14 hits over the course of the game. Mac Dye and Benton Jones led the way with three each, highlighted by Jones’ homer to right field.

Morehead City’s lone bright spot offensively was Ethan Dillon, who went 4-4 and scored a run. Dillon, who had a tough time at the plate to start the summer, is now hitting .311 on the season. His prowess at the plate over the last week has helped the Marlins immensely.

Morehead City will return home on Wednesday to rematch with Peninsula. First pitch is set for 6:30pm at Big Rock Stadium. Fans can watch the game on Home Team Network, with pregame coverage starting at 6:15pm.
