FLORENCE, SC–The Marlins lost for the first time this season against the Florence Flamingos, 1-0.
Their bats struggled as they only recorded four hits. However, strong pitching from starter Drew Bowles with Ryan Jackson and Walker Sweet in relief kept the game close, only allowing five hits.
A solo shot from the Flamingos in the third inning was the fatal blow, credited to centerfielder Jake Richardson in the leadoff slot..
With two runners in scoring position in the top of the ninth inning, Joey Calabretti was called out on a close play at first, after a dropped third strike, ending the game.
