Morehead City, N.C. – The Morehead City Marlins are thrilled to announce the hiring of Jeremy Piatkiewicz as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2024 season, joining head coach Sam Carel and pitching coach David Dobson on staff. Piatkiewicz, a standout player from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for the game that will undoubtedly benefit the Marlins.

Piatkiewicz, a native of Fogelsville, PA, had an impressive career at East Stroudsburg University. During his four years with the Warriors, he played a pivotal role in the team’s success in the Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference (PSAC), a highly competitive Division II league. In the 2024 season, East Stroudsburg achieved a school record 41 victories, finishing the year ranked 15th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll and 2nd in the Atlantic Region, making the NCAA Division II Baseball Tournament for the third time in the last three seasons.

“I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Morehead City coaching staff,” Piatkiewicz exclaimed about his new role. “Looking forward to working with the team and being a member of the community again. Go Fish!”

As a shortstop, Piatkiewicz demonstrated his skills both defensively and offensively. This year alone, he played 57 games for the Warriors, scoring 30 runs, with 35 hits, 36 RBIs, and four homers. His dedication and performance on the field earned him respect and recognition among his peers and coaches.

Piatkiewicz is no stranger to Morehead City. He played five games for the Marlins at the end of the 2023 season, making a lasting impression on Marlins players, coaches, and fans for his strong work ethic and dedication to the game. Before joining the Marlins, he also played for the Terre Haute Rex in Indiana’s Prospect League during the summer of 2023, further honing his skills and gaining valuable experience.

“Whenever the opportunity arises to bring back former players as a member of the coaching staff, it’s a major positive move,” Marlins’ head coach, Sam Carel said. “When he arrived at Morehead City last year, we knew right away his attitude, work ethic, and knowledge of the game would be infectious in the clubhouse and could eventually translate to a role in coaching. Our coaching staff will be one of the finest in the CPL this summer. The Fish got better today!”

The Marlins are confident that Piatkiewicz’s addition to the coaching staff will enhance the team’s performance and contribute to another successful season. Marlins fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead with Jeremy Piatkiewicz on the coaching staff, bringing fresh energy and insights to the team.
