Add another to the list of Marlins draft picks.
Johnathan Lavallee (Long Beach St), a 2021 Marlin, was drafted in the 16th round (489th overall) of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
“We appreciate the brief amount of time Lav gave us in the Marlin uniform, and we wish him the best of luck whatever he decides to do,” said Marlins head coach Jesse Lancaster. “He is a smart, mature, classy guy, and he has all the tools both physically and mentally. I’m very confident that he’ll be successful, and if he chooses to come back to Morehead City to raise his draft stock even more, we’d be thrilled to have him back!”
Lavallee was the Big West Pitcher of the Year and a first-team All American for Long Beach State. This summer for the Marlins, he had a 3-0 record, 2.33 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched.
