HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C.  – The Holly Springs Salamanders secured a 2-0 victory over the Morehead City Marlins on Saturday night at Ting Stadium, spearheaded by a stellar outing from AJ Campbell.

Marlins starter Josh Lanham struck out seven batters over five innings. He allowed an unearned run in the first inning but held the Marlins scoreless for the rest of his outing. His final line was 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 7 K, and 0 BB.

In relief for the Fish, Josh Plisko pitched 2.0 innings, giving up one hit, one earned run, two walks, and striking out a pair. The Salamanders extended their lead with a home run to right field off Plisko in the sixth inning.

Holly Springs right-handed pitcher AJ Campbell completed a two-hit shutout in the ninth for the Salamanders, bringing the game to a swift conclusion in just 1 hour and 56 minutes.

Following the loss, the Marlins dropped to 0-2 in the Coastal Plain League and will return to Big Rock Stadium tomorrow night for their home opener against the Tri-City Chili Peppers. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
