Zebulon, NC –The Morehead City Marlins extended their win streak to four games with a 17-7 win against the Zebulon Devil Dogz in Nomaco Park.
The Marlins scored 16 runs across the first three innings behind strong hitting from the entire lineup. The second and third innings were high scoring as Morehead City brought in six and eight runs, respectively. Jakob Haynes homered in the first inning, scoring the second run of the inning and opening the floodgates. Six starters recorded hits in the game, while all nine reached first base.
Kory Williams started the game on the mound, recording three strikeouts and giving up three runs. Nuno Parache followed, pitching in two innings with three strikeouts and two earned runs. Kole Hopkins had a solid inning of work, giving up no hits, and Walker Sweet finished it out in the seventh, with two strikeouts and two earned runs.
The Devil Dogz pitching struggled as they threw seven arms and recorded nine walks on the night.
The Marlins will return to Big Rock Stadium tomorrow to face the Macon Bacon at 6:30. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:15 on Home Team Network.
