MOREHEAD CITY, NC–The Morehead City Marlins (21-7) continued their dominance at Big Rock Stadium with a 15-3 win over the Zebulon Devil Dogs (7-20). 

The Marlins wasted no time scoring five runs in the first inning, with Jovan Gill smashing a three-run shot over the left field wall. They were able to plate two more, after struggles from the Zebulon pitching staff. 

The Devil Dogz responded with a three-run second inning to inch closer. They would be shut down for the rest of the night. 

Morehead City added two more in the second inning before Sebastian Mexico sent a three-run homer over the wall. Joey Calabretti answered with the second home run of the inning, another three-run shot. 

All in all, the Marlins plated seven runs in the third inning, taking a 14-3 lead. They added one more in the sixth to reach their final number of 15. 

James Brock started on the mound for the Marlins and threw for three innings, giving up three runs with six strikeouts. Matt Hubbard followed, going for two innings with four strikeouts. 

Matthew Heard came in for the sixth inning, recording a double play after catching a hot shot on the mound and throwing it to Nuno Parache on second, doubling up the runner. Sage Ferguson finished it out in the seventh with two strikeouts and a groundout to first, sealing the win. 

With the win, the Marlins are tied with Wilmington at 21-7 for first in the East Division standings.

The Marlins will have the 4th of July off before traveling to Holly Springs on Sunday to play the Salamanders. First pitch at Ting Stadium is set for 5:05pm on July 5th.
