Morehead City, N.C. – Mrs. Hampton, a beloved educator at Newport Elementary School, known for her dedication and passion, was honored as the recipient of the inaugural “Fish for Thanks: Marlins Educator Appreciation” award. This recognition, initiated by the Marlins baseball organization, celebrates the invaluable contributions of educators like Mrs. Hampton to their communities.

The “Fish for Thanks” program, designed to shine a spotlight on outstanding educators throughout the community, aims to foster a culture of appreciation and support for teachers and school administrators. By partnering with local schools, the Marlins seek to make a positive impact both on and off the field.

“Mrs. Hampton is a gift to her students and our staff.  She is a bright light that shines throughout our building and she brings an energy that is simply contagious as she bustles up and down the hallways of our school,” said Principal Laura Parish. “Mrs. Hampton is creative, knowledgeable, and an expert in her field. She works diligently to collaborate with our classroom teachers to determine how she can support our students who may need additional instruction to close any learning gaps they may have in their math skills.  You can find Mrs. Hampton working with students in small groups in our math intervention classroom or you may find Mrs. Hampton co-teaching with some of our classroom teachers.  Mrs. Hampton is always on the go and ready to serve our students!  We are thankful for all that she does for our NES Hawks!”

As part of her prize, Mrs. Hampton received some Marlins merchandise, including a hat and a koozie. Additionally, the basket of goodies included school supplies for her classroom!

“We are thrilled to honor Mrs. Hampton as the first recipient of the ‘Fish for Thanks’ award,” said Marlins Assistant General Manager Brianna Miller. “Her commitment to excellence and her passion for teaching exemplify the qualities we admire and celebrate. It is our hope that this recognition will inspire others to recognize and appreciate the remarkable educators in their communities.”
