MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – The Morehead City Marlins are excited to announce the inaugural 2023 Presidents Day Weekend Round Robin Baseball Tournament to be hosted at Big Rock Stadium this month.

Four Division II baseball programs will be traveling south to visit Morehead City to compete in a seven-game round robin tournament format at Big Rock Stadium set to begin on Thursday, February 16th and lasting throughout the holiday weekend. The visiting teams include Assumption University (Worcester, Massachusetts), Felician University (Rutherford, New Jersey), Millersville University (Millersville, Pennsylvania), and Molloy University (Rockville Centre, New York).

“Having these impressive college baseball programs choose Big Rock Stadium to host the first few games of their respective 2023 seasons is an honor for the Morehead City Marlins as an organization,” newly-hired General Manager Dave Lipay said. “As a native of New Jersey, I understand the desire to escape the longer, northern winters and think it is a win-win situation for each team, as well as the Morehead City community to get high-level baseball competition at The Rock prior to the 2023 Marlins season.”

Entering the 2023 season, each team brings their own level of success to the table. Northeast-10 Conference runner-ups in 2022, the Assumption Greyhounds have qualified for the NCAA DII East Regional in two of the last three years, including last season finishing with a 25-23 record.

The Felician Golden Falcons’ season ended with a loss in the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship, concluding their season with a 26-22 overall record.

The Millersville Marauders won the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship (PSAC) with a 42-14 overall record, but came up short in postseason play, losing in the Atlantic Region Semifinals.

The Molloy Lions enter the 2023 season as the East Coast Conference (ECC) Preseason Poll favorites. In 2022, they took home their second consecutive ECC title and made it to the NCAA East Regional Final, finishing their season with a program best 40-15 record.

There will be no charge for admission into Big Rock Stadium for fans looking to catch some of the tournament action!
