GREENVILLE, NC–The Morehead City Marlins (15-2) continued their hot streak with their 10th consecutive win over the Greenville Yard Gnomes (12-7) with a 16-0 final score.
The Marlins got revenge for their slow start against Greenville on Friday, plating five runs in the first three innings. The Marlins’ true power was shown in the 5th, however, plating six runs to enter run-rule territory.
Morehead City thrived at the plate, recording 16 hits featuring three homers against the Yard Gnomes. Ronnie Rowley hit his first of the season, with Jovan Gill and Jon Howard each adding one to their season total. Joey Callabretti and Diego Diaz also had great days at the plate, notching three hits on the night along with Rowley and Gill.
Aidan Newton shoved in his fourth start for the Fish, allowing just one hit across five total innings. Followed by John Gray and Walker Sweet, the league-leading bullpen continued to show its dominance with their fourth shutout victory this season.
Morehead City will return to Big Rock on Sunday to host the Wilmington Sharks for the fourth time this season. Fans can tune into the game on Home Team Network at 6:30pm, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:15pm.
